Flooding is repeating disaster in most part of Indonesia.  It’s also experienced by most of Jakarta citizens.  Flood occurrence every year left misery to Jakarta citizens.  It’s not only destroying building and other wealth physically, but also life.  Every year, during raining season, which is November until March, same citizens look for escaping from flood risks.  However, question still remains unanswered regarding why citizen seem unaware of flood disaster.  The objective of this research is to measure perception toward flood impact and the willingness of citizens to take part in overcoming it.  This research is survey research in nature.  We used questionnaire as research instrument, which was adopted from flood impact questionnaire.  This questionnaire was used by Bureau of Meteorology, Australian Government in 2004.

Respondents of our research are citizens who are living in two areas in Jakarta, Indonesia.  The reason behind choosing these two areas is that the two areas are the most frequent experiencing flood hazardous.  Questionnaire was distributed to 500 citizens in the two areas.  Statistical tools such as cross tabulation and hypotheses test were used in analyzing data.  Perception of citizens towards flood impact is discussed deeply.  As well, we discuss also their willingness to overcome flooding in deep.
